The Noida International Airport in Jewar, located in Gautam Budh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, commenced operations on Monday with the successful landing of its first commercial flight, marking a significant milestone in India’s aviation infrastructure expansion. The inaugural IndiGo flight arrived at the greenfield airport at 7:55 am, nearly 10 minutes ahead of its scheduled arrival time.

The aircraft had departed from Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport in Lucknow at 7:14 am, carrying passengers including industrialists, employees, and individuals sponsored by the Noida-based CRC Group. Among the passengers was actress and former politician Gul Panag, who is also a licensed private pilot.

Speaking in an interaction on Sunday evening, Gul Panag highlighted the growing perception of Noida as an emerging aspirational hub within the National Capital Region. She noted that increasing numbers of residents from Delhi, South Delhi, and Gurgaon were beginning to consider Noida a destination of importance, reflecting a shift in the region’s socio-economic image. She also linked this transformation to broader discussions on urban development and environmental challenges in the region.
